Overview

  • The haul combined 61,740 pounds of cocaine and 14,400 pounds of marijuana seized in late June to mid August operations across the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean.
  • Coast Guard cutter Hamilton delivered the cache after contributing a record 47,000 pounds of cocaine from 11 go-fast interdictions, with 34 suspected traffickers detained.
  • Officials valued the narcotics at about $473 million and cited roughly 23 million potential lethal doses represented by the cocaine.
  • Nineteen interdictions drew on LEDET boarding teams, drone spotting, and “title shift” authority while embarked on U.S. Navy ships and the Dutch warship HNLMS Friesland.
  • The seizures occurred under the surge campaign Operation Pacific Viper, which continues to deploy cutters, aircraft and helicopter units to disrupt cartel routes before landfall.
