Coast Guard Commissions USCGC Vincent Danz for Guam Deployment

The addition will expand U.S. maritime reach in Oceania under a FY2025-funded fleet modernization plan.

Overview

  • USCGC Vincent Danz, which was commissioned May 22 in New York, formally entered service as the Coast Guard’s 62nd Sentinel-class fast response cutter.
  • The cutter is designated to be homeported in Guam and is expected to arrive there in summer 2026 to join three other FRCs already based on the island.
  • Vincent Danz is a 154-foot multi-mission vessel built to carry out maritime security, counter-illicit-activity patrols, search-and-rescue missions, and partnership work across Micronesia and Melanesia.
  • The ship honors Vincent Danz, a New York City police officer and Coast Guard reservist who died on 9/11, and his family, including sponsor Angela Donohue, attended the commissioning.
  • The commissioning follows the FY2025 budget reconciliation, which included about $1 billion for additional FRCs as the service moves toward a planned fleet of roughly 77 cutters and schedules further Guam-bound arrivals later this year.
