Coal India’s October Output Falls 9.8% as Offtake Slips 5.9%
The company offered no reasons for the fall, with April–October output and offtake still below year-ago levels.

- Production in October stood at 56.4 million tonnes, down from 62.5 million tonnes a year earlier, based on provisional data.
- Offtake in October fell to 58.3 million tonnes, marking a 5.9% year-on-year decline.
- Cumulative April–October production was about 385.3 million tonnes, down 4.5% year on year, and offtake was 415.3 million tonnes, down 2.4%.
- Subsidiaries including Bharat Coking Coal, South Eastern Coalfields and Mahanadi Coalfields reported October production declines.
- Sanoj Kumar Jha was appointed interim chairman-cum-managing director effective November 1, as Coal India pursues 2025–26 targets of 875 MT production and 900 MT dispatch.
