Coachbuilt Rolls-Royce Corniche Becomes One-Off Shooting Brake With Hidden Bike Carrier

The Dutch coachbuilder completed the 'Henry II' rebody to preserve Corniche character by packaging modern utility through a re-engineered rear structure.

Overview

  • A 1981 Corniche long kept in one Swiss family was restored and rebodied by Niels van Roij Design into a one-off shooting brake nicknamed Henry II.
  • Everything from the B-pillar rearwards is new, with hand-formed steel, bespoke flat glass and a custom tailgate shaped using CAD, 3D scanning and traditional panel beating.
  • A polished chrome rear bumper conceals an electrically extending carrier for two triathlon bikes, enabled by relocating the fuel tank and fabricating a new rear subframe.
  • The cabin retains its restored original wood dash and adds beige leather, green-flecked tweed, an electrically folding rear bench that lies flat, hidden rally instruments and matched luggage.
  • The build took roughly two and a half years and about 7,000 hours, no powertrain or chassis upgrades were disclosed, and the owner plans historic rallies and triathlon support use.
