CNG and Domestic Gas Prices Raised in Pune and Mumbai Following Cost Increases

Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) increased CNG prices in Pune from ₹89 to ₹89.75 per kg and domestic PNG rates from ₹49.90 to ₹50.65 per SCM, effective Tuesday midnight.
Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) raised CNG prices in Mumbai by ₹1.50 per kg, effective from midnight on April 9, bringing the price to ₹78 per kg.
These adjustments follow a 4% rise in the administered pricing mechanism rate for natural gas and a 5% increase in trade margins by oil marketing companies as of April 1, 2025.
Taxi and auto drivers have expressed concerns over the cumulative impact of frequent price hikes on their earnings, with recent fare increases failing to fully offset rising fuel costs.
The price hikes reflect broader economic pressures in the energy sector, as companies attempt to balance operational viability with consumer affordability.
