CN Tower Workers Locked Out, Dining Services Halted Ahead of Canada Day

Collapse of long-running pension talks halted dining at Toronto's landmark on the eve of Canada Day.

Overview

  • More than 250 full-time and part-time hosts, kitchen staff, bartenders and waiters were locked out by Canada Lands Company at 12:01 a.m. Monday.
  • The lockout closed 360 Restaurant, VUE Bistros and Le Café while observation decks, EdgeWalk and retail areas remain open with warnings of crowding at access points.
  • Unifor and Canada Lands Company have been negotiating since April over pension improvements, wages, scheduling, benefits and safety protections without resolution.
