CN Rule Change Slows Via Rail Journeys in Ontario and Quebec

Canadian National Railway has imposed speed restrictions on Via Rail's new Siemens trainsets at public crossings.
The new rule, previously only applicable between Montreal and Quebec City, now affects the entire Montreal-Windsor corridor.
Passengers are experiencing average delays of about 30 minutes per train due to the enforced speed reductions.
CN's decision was prompted by the trains running on routes they had previously avoided.
To maintain higher speeds, Via Rail would need to increase the axle count on their trainsets for better signalling and speed detection.
