Overview
- The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety has granted final approval for the Mandale–Diamond Garden starter stretch of Metro Line 2B.
- Media reports indicate the first phase is likely to be inaugurated around October 30–31, with the corridor readied for commercial service.
- The initial 5–5.5 km elevated reach includes five stations: Mandale, Mankhurd, BSNL, Shivaji Chowk and Diamond Garden in Chembur.
- Operations for Lines 2A/2B will be anchored at the new Mandale depot with capacity for up to 72 rakes, while the Charkop depot continues to support Line 7 with 22 rakes.
- Lines 7 (Red) and 2A (Yellow) are being prepared to run separately, with Gundavli services extending to Mira Road and DN Nagar trains terminating at a Dahisar East interchange.
