CMRS Clears Safety Inspection of Mumbai Metro Lines 2B and 9

A compliance checklist follows detailed reviews of station infrastructure, track geometry, electrical equipment, signaling systems, safety provisions ahead of final certification by year-end.

Overview

  • The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety completed Phase 1 inspections on July 3–4, examining overhead electric gear, signaling and communication systems, track geometry, station facilities and emergency response provisions.
  • The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority received a CMRS compliance checklist and will execute corrective works before a final certification inspection.
  • Trial operations on Lines 2B and 9 began in mid-April to assess train performance and system integration across both elevated corridors.
  • Phase 1 of Line 2B spans 5.39 km with five stations at Mandale, Mankhurd, Bharat Petroleum, Shivaji Chowk and Diamond Garden.
  • Phase 1 of Line 9 covers 4.4 km with four stations at Dahisar (East), Pandurangwadi, Miragaon and Kashigaon and is on track for a December launch pending approval.
