The CMB officially changed Rodríguez’s June 21 unanimous decision win over Galal Yafai to a no contest and returned the interim flyweight belt to Yafai. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association notified the CMB of an adverse heptaminol result on July 8, prompting an investigation into the Mexican boxer’s sample. CMB investigators found the stimulant ingestion was non-intentional after Rodríguez disclosed use of an over-the-counter energy supplement on his pre-fight registration. Rather than imposing a ban, the council placed Rodríguez on a 12-month probationary status through June 21, 2026, with three unannounced VADA tests. A direct rematch between Rodríguez and Yafai has been ordered, subject to final approval by the British Boxing Board of Control.
