Overview

  • A hit-and-run in Bushwick on Saturday killed a 47-year-old pedestrian who was dragged more than 50 feet, and police are still searching for the driver.
  • In Sheepshead Bay around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 22-year-old man died when his 2019 Lexus rolled over multiple times near the Belt Parkway exit, and three passengers were hospitalized.
  • Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday in West New Brighton, Staten Island, an MTA bus struck a 13-year-old scooter rider at Castleton Avenue and Park Avenue, leaving him in critical condition as the bus driver remained at the scene.
  • At about 4 a.m. Tuesday in Brownsville, Brooklyn, a 35-year-old Ford Fusion driver collided with a 29-year-old moped rider who was ejected and later pronounced dead; the driver was taken into custody pending charges.
  • Citywide data show Brooklyn has recorded 228 pedestrian injuries and two fatalities through June, the highest among boroughs and highlighting uneven road safety risks.
