Cloudy, Cooler Mumbai Sees Drizzle as RMC Warns of Isolated Storms

IMD links the rain to moisture from a trough over the Arabian Sea.

Overview

  • Mumbai woke to overcast skies with intermittent drizzle, and IMD expects light to moderate rain through the day across the city and adjoining districts.
  • The maximum temperature is forecast near 31°C today with high humidity, while recent Santacruz readings have been a few degrees below the seasonal norm.
  • RMC Mumbai warned of isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph over parts of Konkan-Goa and North Madhya Maharashtra, alongside an advisory for fishermen.
  • Thane and Navi Mumbai reported scattered showers and minor waterlogging in some low-lying areas, and city localities such as Dadar, Bandra, Andheri and Powai saw early drizzle.
  • Forecasters expect gradual clearing by midweek; an independent meteorologist says La Niña may increase cyclones and low-pressure systems this season.
