Overview
- Cloudflare announced that Cloudflare for Government has received FedRAMP Class D (High) certified status, a federal authorization vetted by an agency and verified by the FedRAMP PMO.
- FedRAMP High covers the nation’s most sensitive unclassified data, such as law enforcement, emergency services, financial systems and national security information, and requires substantially stronger controls than the company’s earlier Moderate authorization.
- Cloudflare built the FedRAMP High offering on its single global software stack and uses a Data Localization Suite to enforce traffic inspection and processing exclusively in U.S. data centers.
- The systems developed for FedRAMP High will serve as the foundation for Cloudflare’s planned pursuit of Department of Defense Impact Level 4 (DoD IL4) authorization for handling controlled unclassified information.
- Cloudflare says the authorization will let agencies adopt modern Zero Trust controls, advanced DDoS protection, and the same developer and performance features available to commercial customers, which could speed federal modernization and reduce reliance on isolated, slower government-only clouds.
