Clocks Set to Fall Back: Spain Oct. 26, U.S. and Mexican Border Areas Nov. 2

Permanent shifts to a single time await political approval despite calls for year‑round standard time from health experts.

Overview

  • Spain will enter winter time overnight from Saturday to Sunday, October 25–26, with clocks moving from 03:00 back to 02:00 as published in the BOE.
  • Most of the United States returns to standard time on Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 a.m. local, when clocks shift back to 1:00 a.m., with exceptions including Hawaii, most of Arizona and several U.S. territories.
  • Mexico’s seasonal border schedule also reverts on November 2 under the Ley de Husos Horarios, with Baja California changing statewide and designated municipalities in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas setting clocks back one hour.
  • Digital devices typically update automatically while analog clocks need manual adjustment, and overnight work shifts may be handled per employer policies or collective agreements.
  • EU plans to end seasonal clock changes remain stalled at the Council level, and U.S. state initiatives such as California’s Proposition 7 cannot take effect without Congressional authorization.
