Climate Activists Face Trial Over Sylt Protests
Six members of 'Letzte Generation' are on trial for vandalizing a private jet and planting trees on a golf course in climate protest actions.
- Three women and three men from the 'Letzte Generation' group are accused of two protest actions on the island of Sylt in June 2023.
- The activists allegedly sprayed orange paint on a private jet at Sylt airport, causing damage estimated at over one million euros.
- Additional damage of approximately 3,700 euros occurred when the activists cut through a security fence to access the airport.
- The second protest involved digging holes and planting a tree and flowers on a golf course, resulting in a further 1,600 euros in damages.
- The trial, which began today, is being held at the Landgericht Itzehoe due to space constraints at the local Niebüll court.
