Overview

  • The US Department of Transportation granted $960,000 to Cleveland for the North Coast Connector Multimodal Hub Area Study.
  • This marks the project's third federal award under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law after previous grants of $59 million in October 2024 and $69.3 million in January 2025.
  • The hub study will chart plans to consolidate Amtrak and RTA services, integrate multiple transportation modes and enhance access between downtown and the Lake Erie shoreline.
  • Phase 1 design and engineering is already underway with construction slated for 2027 including Shoreway demolition, a new boulevard conversion and a rebuilt West Third Street bridge.
  • City leaders are also advancing redevelopment of the Browns stadium site and could clear about 50 acres for new projects if the current venue is demolished in 2029.
