Cleveland Police Appeal for Public Tips as July 4 Weekend Shootings Remain Unresolved

Overview

  • Between the evening of July 4 and the early hours of July 5, Cleveland’s Fourth District logged more than 600 calls for service, overwhelming officers.
  • At 3:30 a.m. on July 5, investigators found Leonard Brown, 30, and Briauna Green, 29, shot to death on Fullerton Avenue in the Slavic Village neighborhood.
  • Around 4:20 a.m., a mass shooting at Buckeye Plaza claimed the life of a 22-year-old man and wounded five others aged 18 to 21, with at least three in critical condition.
  • Multiple-caliber shell casings were recovered across several city blocks at the Buckeye Plaza scene, indicating the use of more than one firearm.
  • No arrests have been made in either case and police are urging anyone with video footage or information to contact Cleveland police or Crime Stoppers.
