Overview
- Coach Dabo Swinney announced Tuesday that senior Christopher Vizzina will start Saturday's season opener at No. 11 LSU.
- Swinney made the job explicitly provisional by saying Vizzina must play well to keep the role and he will not be guaranteed the season-long job.
- True freshman Tait Reynolds remains in the quarterback race and could see snaps in Baton Rouge depending on how the game unfolds.
- Vizzina has limited starting experience but strong recent tape, having completed 64 of 105 passes for 596 career yards and throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns in his only 2025 start.
- The decision fills the vacancy left by Cade Klubnik's move to the NFL and comes as Clemson seeks to rebound from a 7-6 2025 season with a road test against Lane Kiffin's LSU adding extra scrutiny.
