CLEAR Expands Biometric eGates to Phoenix, BWI and Palm Beach This Week

The new lanes verify enrolled travelers by face in under five seconds under TSA control.

Overview

  • CLEAR says its eGates launched this week at Phoenix Sky Harbor, Baltimore/Washington International and Palm Beach International, allowing enrolled members to proceed straight to physical screening after verification.
  • According to the company, CLEAR+ users scan a boarding pass and complete face recognition for identity confirmation in under five seconds before entering bag screening.
  • CLEAR states that TSA retains operational control of gate access and security vetting, positioning the system as a public–private collaboration at the checkpoint.
  • For privacy, CLEAR says the system transmits only a live photo, the boarding pass and the enrollment photo, and that it does not access watchlists, make gate decisions or manually open gates.
  • The company reports roughly 20 other airports received the technology earlier this year and frames the expansion as helping with holiday travel and preparations for events such as the 2026 World Cup and America 250.
