Overview

  • Commissioner Rob Manfred activated the Legend Pick provision from the MLB collective bargaining agreement to include Kershaw on the National League roster.
  • Kershaw delayed his season debut until May 17 after shoulder, toe and knee surgeries and has made nine starts since returning.
  • He has compiled a 4–0 record with a 3.43 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 44⅔ innings pitched this season.
  • Less than a week before the All-Star announcement, Kershaw recorded his 3,000th career strikeout, becoming the 20th pitcher to reach the milestone.
  • Despite appreciating the honor, Kershaw said he feels he “didn’t deserve” the nod because of his limited time on the mound.
