Overview

  • The Water Environment Federation selected President Claudia Sheinbaum as one of three recipients of its Public Officials Award for leadership in water management.
  • The award will be presented at WEFTEC in Chicago on September 29, 2025.
  • WEF highlighted more than 62,000 home rainwater-harvesting systems that empowered marginalized communities and reduced burdens on women.
  • It credited strategic projects that expanded potable-water capacity by 1,658 liters per second and public–private partnerships that stabilized supply during critical periods.
