  • Clarendon Hills earned its first LLWS berth by winning the Great Lakes Regional and will face Summerlin South of Las Vegas at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.
  • A village watch party kicks off at 1 p.m. at Prospect and Park avenues with a large outdoor jumbotron and satellite viewings at nearby restaurants.
  • In opening-day action Venezuela defeated Puerto Rico 5-0 in the international bracket while Lamar Little League fell 1-0 to Fairfield, Conn., in a tight pitching duel.
  • Richmond’s Lamar Little League now drops into the elimination bracket and must win Saturday to stay alive in the tournament.
  • Clarendon Hills will advance to play Northwest Region champion Bonney Lake/Sumner on Friday if victorious today or compete in a loser's-bracket elimination game on Saturday.
