Claims Open in $46 Million Kaiser Privacy Settlement Covering 13 Million Members

Eligible members must submit a claim by March 12, 2026 to receive payment.

Overview

  • Lawsuits allege Kaiser’s websites and apps sent sensitive member data to Google, Microsoft, Meta and X through third-party tracking code.
  • The settlement covers people who accessed authenticated pages between November 2017 and May 2024 in California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Virginia, Washington and Washington, D.C.
  • Kaiser denies wrongdoing, says it settled to avoid the burden of further litigation, and reports it removed tracking tools in 2024.
  • A federal judge granted preliminary approval in December 2025, with a final approval hearing set for May 7, 2026, and payments to follow court approval.
  • Class members receive a unique Settlement Class Member ID by email to file online and can choose direct deposit, digital wallet or check, with estimated payouts of about $20 to $40 on a pro rata basis.
