CJI Gavai to Inaugurate Second National Mediation Conference in Bhubaneswar on Sept. 27

Overview

• The two-day conference runs September 27–28 at Loka Seva Bhawan with the inauguration slated for about 6:30 pm in the presence of Odisha’s governor and chief minister.
• Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said Chief Justice B. R. Gavai will open the meeting, with several Supreme Court judges, high court chiefs and judges, law university leaders, law firm heads, the Attorney General R. Venkataramani, and the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta expected to attend.
• Five interactive technical sessions are scheduled on September 28 from 10 am to 4 pm, to be chaired or co-chaired by Supreme Court judges with participation from senior judicial and law officers.
• Organizers say the goal is to deepen dialogue on mediation while equipping practitioners and citizens with skills to use the process effectively.
• The Bhubaneswar edition follows last year’s inaugural conference in New Delhi and builds on reforms such as the Mediation Act, 2023, as Odisha helps advance access to consensual dispute resolution.
