Civil Protection Day Ceremonies Honor Quake Victims and Call for Readiness in Mérida and Ecatepec

State officials in Yucatán framed the remembrance around prevention priorities, culminating in an announced presidential visit to Mérida on Saturday.

  • Mérida held a civic mourning ceremony in Plaza Grande with participation from state police, CONAGUA, Navy, Army, Air Force, the National Guard under Plan DN-III, Civil Protection, medical regulators, Red Cross, paramedics and firefighters.

  • In Ecatepec, Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss led a memorial with the flag at half-mast and a minute of silence, urging immediate, skilled and empathetic emergency responses by municipal units including urban rescue, fire, marine task force and police divisions.
