Overview

  • The Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions) Rules, 2025, were issued on June 18 and will take effect once notified in the Official Gazette.
  • The draft replaces the 1994 regulations by granting the DGCA and aerodrome officers authority to identify and act on buildings or trees exceeding height limits in designated zones.
  • Owners must submit detailed site plans and structure dimensions within 60 days of receiving a notice or face enforcement action, including demolition or height reduction.
  • Aerodrome officers can conduct daylight inspections with owner notice, and aggrieved parties may appeal orders to designated appellate officers subject to a Rs 1,000 fee.
  • Compensation under the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024, will be available only to those complying with directives, and new non-compliant structures will not qualify.
