City Selects Cirrus-LCOR to Build 3,000 Homes on Former Flushing Airport Site

Part of the City of Yes zoning reforms the project repurposes 60 acres of disused land into a union-built mixed-income community

Overview

  • Cirrus Workforce Housing and LCOR Incorporated were chosen by NYCEDC to lead the planning and design of 3,000 residential units on the 60-acre College Point site
  • Units will range from deeply affordable to market-rate and target middle-income New Yorkers to help address the city’s housing shortage
  • State- and federally recognized wetlands covering more than 80 percent of the property will be legally preserved to minimize flooding and protect wildlife habitat
  • The development will be financed and constructed with union pension fund investments as part of a partnership with the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York
  • City forecasts project $3.2 billion in economic activity over 30 years along with 1,300 construction jobs and 530 permanent positions
