City of Hope Completes $1.5 Billion Irvine Cancer Hospital, First Patients Arrive Dec. 1

The Irvine campus brings research-driven, hospital-level cancer care closer to a county facing rising cancer incidence.

Overview

  • The 73-bed inpatient facility is Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital on City of Hope’s Irvine campus.
  • The hospital connects directly to the Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, enabling inpatient and outpatient care in one location.
  • Services include surgery, CAR T-cell therapy, bispecifics, other immunotherapies, stem cell transplant, and hospital-monitored clinical trials.
  • Nearly 600 employees have been hired for the launch, with more than 100 physician-scientists set to practice on the campus.
  • The investment targets local need with cancer cases projected to rise 18% and past patients often traveling out of county; City of Hope now operates five cancer hospitals and more than 30 regional sites in Southern California.
