Der französische Autobauer Citroën hat wegen Airbag-Problemen die Halter von 441.000 Fahrzeugen aufgefordert, die Autos im Zuge eines Rückrufs ab sofort nicht mehr zu fahren.

Overview

  • The recall covers all Citroën C3 and DS3 models built from 2009 to 2019 in Germany, France and Belgium.
  • Citroën issued an immediate stop-drive order after a June 11 crash in Reims killed a driver when a Takata airbag ruptured.
  • Owners are being notified directly and offered free replacements but must secure approval before driving to service centers.
  • The KBA warns that failure to comply will trigger warnings, fines and possible revocation of the vehicles’ operating permits.
  • The defective airbags use ammonium nitrate propellant that can degrade in heat and moisture and Takata has since filed for bankruptcy.
