Overview
- On June 20, 130 citizens met for the first of seven three-day sessions at the Conseil économique, social et environnemental to examine the organization of children’s daily and school time.
- Over the next six months, the assembly will assess school schedules, screen time, cultural and leisure access and transport arrangements in rural areas.
- Around 20 children will take part in sessions to share firsthand experiences of school days, vacations and extracurricular activities.
- The convention follows a May report by the Cour des comptes that criticised the four-day school week and long days for undermining students’ learning and health.
- Participants must submit recommendations by November to reshape the four-day week and improve children’s development and well-being.
