Cities and States Open Free or Subsidized Transit for Enem Candidates

Local governments are using fare credits, open turnstiles, bike boarding, special schedules, targeted ID checks to ease access to Enem test sites.

Overview

  • State and municipal authorities announced measures on Thursday and Friday to cover the Enem Sundays of Nov. 8 and Nov. 15, aiming to remove travel barriers for exam takers.
  • Ceará confirmed universal free access on metro and VLT lines in Fortaleza, Sobral and Cariri with turnstiles open, bicycle boarding allowed and earlier Saturday closures before each exam Sunday.
  • The Rio de Janeiro city government is providing R$10 in Jaé digital credits per exam day for registered candidates and published special timetables while operators added extra trains, longer metro hours and VLT adjustments.
  • Alto Tietê municipalities issued a patchwork of rules: Ferraz de Vasconcelos offers all-day universal free municipal buses, while Mogi, Itaquaquecetuba, Suzano and others require Enem registration or photo ID and have set operating windows.
  • Candidates should check local rules, Jaé registration deadlines and posted timetables because eligibility and how benefits are delivered vary by jurisdiction and by operator.
