Overview

  • The pilot opened concurrently at JNPA Mumbai and ChPA Chennai with 66 private security personnel drawn from seven major ports.
  • JNPA hosts 40 trainees from JNPA Sheva, DPA Kandla and Mumbai Port Authority, while ChPA trains 26 from New Mangalore, Kamarajar (Ennore), Chennai and VO Chidambaranar (Tuticorin).
  • The curriculum was developed with the Directorate General of Shipping and is delivered by instructors from CISF, Customs, marine departments and the Port Health Organisation.
  • CISF frames the initiative as a response to heightened maritime risks after ports were temporarily raised to MARSEC Level 2 earlier this year.
  • The force plans to expand the program to additional ports on both coasts in the coming months as part of a hybrid security model that integrates private agencies.
