Overview

  • The inaugural course, the Port Facility Security Course, began simultaneously at JNPA in Mumbai and ChPA in Chennai.
  • CISF enrolled 40 private security personnel at the JNPA facility and 26 at the ChPA training centre for classroom instruction and hands-on drills.
  • The curriculum covers port operations, threat identification, emergency response, legal frameworks, security equipment usage, and ISPS Code standards.
  • Modules were developed with the Directorate General of Shipping, with instruction by CISF, Customs, marine departments, and the Port Health Organisation.
  • CISF frames the pilot as part of a hybrid security model for major and smaller ports and plans to extend the program to other locations in the coming months following a temporary MARSEC Level 2 posture earlier this year.
