Overview
- The inaugural batch of 30 women started an eight-week advanced commando course on August 11 at the CISF Regional Training Centre in Barwaha, slated to finish on October 4.
- A second batch will train from October 6 to November 29 as the force targets at least 100 women in the initial phase drawn from Aviation Security Groups and sensitive units.
- The curriculum prepares trainees for Quick Reaction Team and Special Task Force roles, including live-fire under stress, obstacle courses, rappelling, forest survival and a 48-hour confidence exercise.
- CISF officials say the all-women commando course will become a regular feature of the training calendar to integrate women into core operational duties.
- Women comprise about 8% of the CISF with 12,491 personnel, and the force plans to recruit 2,400 more in 2026 to meet the Home Ministry’s 10% representation target.
