Overview

  • CISF now has four women inspectors general—Shanti Jaidev, Jyoti Sinha, Pratibha Aggarwal and Neelima Rani—making women 50% of its IG cadre for the first time.
  • A new women’s grievance desk at CISF headquarters will address the needs of its over 12,000 female personnel through a more human-centric approach.
  • The force’s largest-ever sports recruitment drive in June will enlist 229 women sportspersons alongside 204 men across 29 disciplines to enhance gender balance.
  • Women account for about 8% of CISF’s 188,000-strong workforce, the highest share among India’s Central Armed Police Forces.
  • Earlier reforms include a December 2024 posting policy granting choice postings to women after six years and the January approval of an all-women battalion in Haryana’s Nuh.
