Overview

  • The single-engine Cirrus SR22T crashed in a rural field northeast of Sanford on July 7 shortly after departing Merritt Island, Florida
  • All four occupants—Travis and Candace Buchanan, both 35, and their children Aubrey, 10, and Walker, 9—died in the accident, with three pronounced dead at the scene and the fourth at a hospital
  • FlightAware data shows the aircraft was last tracked near Sanford at about 1:30 p.m., with no weather alerts in effect during its flight
  • The Buchanans, owners of Buchanan Farms, were returning from a beach trip and based their plane at Raleigh Executive Jetport
