Circle Ends USDC Issuance and Legacy CCTP on Noble

The move forces Cosmos projects and holders to shift USDC off Noble before staged shutdown dates and replaces Noble’s role with alternative routing plans.

Overview

  • Circle announced on Thursday that it will stop supporting USDC and the legacy Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol V1 on the Noble chain and that Noble will not receive the upgraded CCTP V2.
  • The company set a phased timetable that starts with new-minting disabled on October 13, 2026, burn capacity on CCTP V1 declining from October 31, 2026, and a full contract pause and snapshot around January 12, 2027 followed by manual redemptions beginning January 13, 2027.
  • Noble has been Cosmos’s native USDC issuer since late 2023 so the withdrawal forces dozens of chains, exchanges, wallets, and DeFi protocols to reroute liquidity and integrations before the deadlines.
  • Circle will not run an exit interface so holders must use supported exchanges, DEX swaps, or remaining CCTP V1 routes to move funds and should follow Circle’s official list of exit venues to avoid scams and blocked transfers.
  • Reports differ on an earlier December 1 pause date in some coverage, so developers and holders should verify the exact pause and snapshot timing in Circle’s official documentation and act now to migrate assets and remove Noble routes.
