Overview

  • The curry house will close on June 15 after South Oxfordshire District Council deemed its kitchen odours a statutory nuisance.
  • Owners spent £35,000 on a new extractor fan after a 2021 complaint, only to be served a second abatement notice declaring the system defective.
  • In October 2024 Cinnamons pleaded guilty and received a £25,000 penalty covering fines, council costs and a victim surcharge.
  • Facing an estimated £50,000 overhaul they could not afford, the restaurant laid off all 10 employees in May and announced its mid-June shutdown.
  • On its final day of trading the restaurant will offer free meals as a gesture of thanks to local patrons.
