  • Cinemark and IMAX announced a 17-location agreement across the U.S. and South America to install new systems and upgrade existing auditoriums.
  • Three IMAX 70mm film projection sites will open in Woodridge, Illinois; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Rochester, New York in time for the July 17, 2026 release of The Odyssey.
  • Cinemark will add four new IMAX with Laser systems and upgrade 12 existing IMAX screens to IMAX with Laser for higher-brightness 4K presentation and enhanced audio.
  • IMAX confirmed to Forbes that the 70mm film projectors for the new sites are existing units being brought back to operational readiness.
  • Early 70mm showings of The Odyssey sold out up to a year in advance, with only about 30 theaters worldwide currently equipped for IMAX 70mm projection.
