Cincinnati Reds Sign Nick Martinez and Emilio Pagán in Major Free-Agent Deals

Martinez and Pagán join the Reds in two-year contracts, marking the team's most significant free-agent spending since 2020.

Nick Martinez, a 33-year-old right-hander, has signed a two-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds worth $26 million. He will receive $14 million in 2024 and $12 million in 2025.
Emilio Pagán, a 32-year-old right-hander, also signed a two-year deal with the Reds worth $16 million. The contract includes an $8 million player option for 2025.
Martinez had a 6-3 record with a 3.43 ERA in nine starts and 54 relief appearances last season with the San Diego Padres.
Pagán had a 5-2 record with a 2.99 ERA and one save in 65 relief appearances and one start for the Minnesota Twins last season.
Both Martinez and Pagán were identified early as targets by the Reds, and their signings represent the most free-agent money the team has spent since its record spending spree before the 2020 season.
