Cincinnati Declares Snow Emergency Parking Ban as Weekend Storm Nears

City crews will run 12-hour shifts under a parking ban on marked snow routes.

Overview

  • The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the region from 10 a.m. Saturday through midday Monday.
  • Officials are urging residents to stay off the roads, and the city's snow emergency prohibits parking on designated routes with towing and fines possible.
  • Public Services will field 65 drivers on 12-hour rotations beginning Saturday, operate around the clock, and use 20,000 tons of salt after early pretreatment, supported by new tablets, roadway weather stations and a public plow tracker.
  • Forecasts call for snow to expand Saturday afternoon with about 4 to 8 inches likely for much of Greater Cincinnati, while sleet and freezing rain in southern areas could reduce totals and worsen driving Sunday into Monday morning.
  • Counties and cities can issue Level 1–3 travel advisories as conditions worsen, including Level 3 closures to non-emergency traffic that can carry citations or arrest for violators.
