Church of Jesus Christ Reveals Sites and Renderings for New Temples in Idaho and Nigeria

The disclosures detail exact locations, building sizes and on-site support facilities, marking a move into site-specific planning for both projects.

Overview

  • The First Presidency released the future sites and exterior renderings for the Coeur d’Alene Idaho Temple and the Calabar Nigeria Temple on Nov. 10 via ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
  • The Coeur d’Alene Idaho Temple is planned as a single-story, approximately 29,630-square-foot building at Hanley Avenue and Coeur Terre Boulevard on a 10.91-acre site that will also include a meetinghouse and an ancillary building.
  • The Calabar Nigeria Temple is planned as a single-story, approximately 26,000-square-foot building on a 7-acre site at Atekong Drive that will include patron housing, arrival facilities and a meetinghouse.
  • The Coeur d’Alene temple will be Idaho’s 10th and the first in the state’s north, following its October 2024 announcement by President Russell M. Nelson.
  • The Calabar temple will be Nigeria’s fifth, complementing ongoing temple growth that includes Lagos and Benin City now under construction after May 2025 groundbreakings.
