Church in Watts Burned for Second Time in Arson, Officials Say

St. John's United Methodist Church in Los Angeles was damaged by fire for the second time in less than two years.
The fire started in the sanctuary and spread to a balcony of the church.
The 97-year-old church was undergoing renovations from a previous fire that caused major damage in February 2022.
More than 30 firefighters put out the blaze in about 20 minutes and no injuries were reported.
Officials have launched an arson investigation into the fire.
