Health officials say fungi found on the cotton swab tips could cause life-threatening blood infections in vulnerable users.

  • The recall covers all lots within expiry of Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, Zicam Nasal AllClear Swabs and Orajel Baby Teething Swabs.
  • Church & Dwight issued the voluntary recall on June 6 in coordination with the FDA after identifying potential fungal contamination in the cotton swab components.
  • The FDA warns that contaminated swabs may cause life-threatening blood infections in users with compromised nasal mucosa, especially children and immunocompromised individuals.
  • The affected products were distributed nationwide in the United States and Puerto Rico, and consumers are instructed to immediately cease using them.
