Chrysler Recalls 80,620 Jeep Grand Cherokees to Recheck Rear Springs After Faulty Repairs

The follow-up campaign addresses prior repair work that may have left rear coil springs out of position.

Overview

  • NHTSA campaign 26V051 was filed January 29, with dealer notifications beginning January 30 and interim owner letters set for February 12, followed by a full repair notice in March.
  • The action covers certain 2021–2023 Grand Cherokee (29,139 vehicles) and 2021–2023 Grand Cherokee L (51,481 vehicles), excluding models with air suspension.
  • Stellantis traced the problem to work performed under earlier recall 23V413 (FCA 64A), where some rear coil springs may have been installed incorrectly or incompletely.
  • Incorrectly positioned springs can move out of place or detach while driving, creating a crash risk and potential road hazard.
  • Dealers will inspect and fix the rear coil spring assemblies at no charge, and owners can check VINs on NHTSA’s website or contact FCA U.S. customer service, with no accidents or injuries reported to date.
