Chrome’s Autofill Can Now Pull Order, Tracking and Booking Details From Gmail

Google says Gemini with Personal Intelligence will surface encrypted inbox details controllable in Chrome settings.

Overview

  • Google began rolling out the new “enhanced autofill” on Oct. 28 to U.S. users of Gemini in Chrome who opt into Personal Intelligence on desktop, Android, and iOS.
  • The feature scans Gmail to suggest specific items such as order numbers, shipment tracking codes, and flight or hotel booking references when a web form asks for them.
  • Users must enable Personal Intelligence for Gemini in Chrome to see suggestions and can manage or turn off the capability from Chrome’s settings.
  • Google says sensitive suggestions are encrypted and that credit card numbers and saved addresses continue to come from Chrome’s standard autofill rather than inbox scanning.
  • The update aims to save time by reducing email lookups and could deepen Chrome’s role in Google’s AI ecosystem, with Google planning future expansion to pull relevant data from Google Photos images.
