Chrome Uses Gemini to Pull Gmail Order, Tracking and Booking Details for Autofill

It promises faster form filling by surfacing specific Gmail items as suggestions while leaving control of the feature to users.

Overview

  • Chrome, which began rolling out the enhanced autofill on Oct. 28, 2026, now uses Google’s Gemini with Personal Intelligence to suggest order numbers, shipment tracking codes, and flight or hotel booking details from users' Gmail.
  • The feature is available in the U.S. on desktop, Android, and iOS for people who have Gemini in Chrome and who enable Personal Intelligence in Chrome settings.
  • Google says the Gmail-sourced suggestions are encrypted and can be managed or turned off in Chrome, though the company has not published detailed technical documentation on how inbox content is scanned or encrypted.
  • Credit card numbers and saved addresses are not pulled from Gmail by this update; those items continue to come from Chrome’s standard autofill linked to saved browser or Wallet data.
  • Google plans to expand the capability to read relevant information from Google Photos images in the future, a move that could increase convenience and deepen ties between Chrome, Gemini, and users’ Google services.
