Chrome Rolls Out Enhanced Autofill for IDs and Vehicle Details Worldwide

The opt-in tool offers encrypted storage for sensitive numbers, with Google using site context to improve autofill suggestions.

Overview

  • Google began the global rollout on November 3, with support in all regions and languages but the feature is turned off by default.
  • Users can enable Enhanced autofill via Settings > Autofill and passwords > Enhanced autofill on desktop Chrome.
  • Initial support covers driver's license numbers, passport numbers, license plate numbers, and vehicle identification numbers in eligible forms.
  • Chrome prompts to save these details on first entry, requires user confirmation, and allows Add, Edit, and Delete management in settings.
  • The autofill dropdown appears beneath supported fields and can insert your own or a family member's saved information, with Google planning additional data types in the coming months.
