Christopher Nolan Begins Filming 'The Odyssey' Across Global Locations

The director's adaptation of Homer's epic will feature an all-star cast and shoot in Sicily, the UK, and Morocco using new IMAX technology.

Christopher Nolan's next film, 'The Odyssey,' is an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic about Odysseus' decade-long journey home after the Trojan War.
Filming has started, with confirmed locations including Sicily's Favignana island, other parts of Sicily, the UK, and Morocco.
Favignana, also known as 'Goat Island,' is believed to be where Odysseus and his crew landed in the epic poem, making it a fitting choice for the production.
The cast includes Nolan regulars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson, alongside newcomers Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.
The film, produced by Nolan's Syncopy and Universal Pictures, will utilize new IMAX film technology and is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026.
