Christopher Luxon Sworn in as New Zealand's Prime Minister

Leading a Conservative Coalition, Luxon Plans to Improve Economy and Repeal Certain Government Restrictions

Christopher Luxon, former businessman and leader of the National Party, has been sworn in as New Zealand's 42nd prime minister.
Luxon leads a conservative coalition formed with two smaller parties following a general election last month.
The new government plans to deliver tax cuts, train 500 more police officers within two years, and cut public service by 6.5%.
Luxon's government plans to repeal tobacco restrictions approved by the previous government, including requirements for low nicotine levels in cigarettes, fewer retailers and a lifetime ban for youth.
The coalition also plans to roll back the use of Maori language and end a ban on oil and gas exploration.
